John Comer returns to Woking Park as reserve team manager

John Comer - Reserve Team Manager

Former first team manager and long-standing Westfield stalwart is back with a job to do...

Tonight saw the first evening of training sessions for our reserve team who start 2020-21 season in the Hellenic League, Division 2 South, having finished mid-table in the Suburban League Central in 2019-20 (results were subsequently expunged due to the Coronavirus outbreak).

Lead by new reserve team manager John Comer, previously Westfield's first team manager in 2007-08 and again from 2010 to 2014, John was asked for his thoughts and plans for the new campaign.

"We were hoping to start this year at Step 7 (of the non-league pyramid)," he commented, "but have had to come in at the next level down. Our aim will be to get straight into Step 6 (Hellenic Division 1); it will be a new challenge, a new league, and we will be going all out to win it. I intend bring some new local youngsters through, develop the talent and add strength and continuity to the whole club as well."

Among Westfield's new opponents in this new division will be Yateley United, Wokingham & Emmbrook Reserves, Hazlemere Sports, Aston Clinton Reserves, Wallingford Town Reserves, Abingdon United Development, Chalvey Sports Reserves, Chalfont Wasps, AFC Aldermaston Reserves, Taplow United, Stokenchurch and Virginia Water Development.

Fixtures are due to start around the middle of September - please keep an eye on our website for further information.
