Another win on the road

Westfield moved to within 3 points of securing a play-off place as a 5th consecutive victory at Ashford saw them consolidate their 5th spot in the league.

A difficult game at a very cold Short Lane saw little action from either side in the first half. Both keepers were called into action once to keep at low efforts but were equal to the task.
In saying that the home side did have the ball in the net in the 18th minute when Juwon Akintunde pounced after Jack Smith's free kick came back off the bar but the assistants flag came to the rescue.

After the break Westfield posed much more of an attacking threat and opened the goal in the 57th minute. Adaje doing well down the left and his cross saw Gogognas effort saved by keeper Grosha before the ball fell to Jordan Alves who smashed home.

Alfie Huckle secured the points with 7 minutes remaining as he ghosted in-between centre back and keeper to meet Andy Crossley's lofted chip and flick past Grosha.

At the other end Westfield's rear guard comfortably dealt with the home sides limited attacking threats, mainly from set pieces.
