Aldershot Cup progress

Westfield are into the semi-finals of the ADFA Senior Cup after a tough encounter with local neighbours Sheerwater.

The Sheers gave a fine account of themselves and on this showing were by the far the best of the step 5 clubs we've faced this season and on another night could have won the tie.

In horrendous conditions the hosts started the better and took a deserved lead early on when Raleigh Hebditch could only parry Sellicks low effort and Onwusonye was on hand to fire home the rebound.
The hosts continued to push forward and could have added a 2nd before Westfield started to take control and drew level 10 minutes before the break when Jamarie Brissett opened his account for Westfield finishing Archy Taylors low cross.
The game was turned around with the last kick of the half when Tobi Adaje wriggled free on the edge of the area and fired into the bottom corner past Mickley.

The 2nd half saw fewer chances at both ends with Westfield making a host of changed bringing on several of their U18 squad, one of which Aidan Willis had the best two chances but not taken.
There was nearly late drama for the home side as a right wing cross evaded nearly everyone apart from the oncoming striker but he elected to duck instead of head with the goal at his mercy and the visitors move onto a semi-final at Fleet Town.
